Privacy policy

Effective October 17, 2026

VennNews is a daily news digest. This policy explains what information the VennNews apps (Android and iPhone) and the website vennnews.com handle, and the choices you have. In short: VennNews has no accounts and doesn't sell your personal information. The only personal data involved is your email address if you send a Letter to the Editor, and the data used by the advertising in the apps, both described below.

What stays on your phone

The app saves the latest editions, the archive, and pages like this one on your device so it opens instantly and works offline. This stays on your phone and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

What our servers see

To download each edition, the app and website contact our content server. Like any internet service, our hosting providers may briefly keep standard technical logs, such as your IP address and the time of the request, for security and to keep the service running. We don't use these logs to identify you.

Letters to the Editor

If you send a Letter to the Editor, we store your email address and your message so we can read it and reply to you. Letters aren't published or shared, and we'll delete yours if you ask.

Advertising (apps only)

The apps show a small banner ad from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google's ad software collects: your device's IP address (which can indicate your general location), device identifiers such as your phone's advertising ID, how you interact with ads (for example, views and taps), and technical diagnostics about app performance. Google handles this data under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

Your ad choices

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland, or another place where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown, and you can change your choice anytime from "Privacy settings" in the app's archive menu. On iPhone, the app asks permission before using your advertising identifier; you can change this in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Settings under Google > Ads (or Privacy > Ads). Ads still appear either way; they're just less personalized.

The website

vennnews.com doesn't show ads and doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address to deliver them.

Links to news outlets

Each story links to the original articles. When you open one, you're on that outlet's site, and its privacy policy applies.

Children

VennNews is a general news service and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because VennNews has no accounts, we don't hold a profile about you. If you have a privacy question or request, including requests under laws such as the GDPR or California's privacy laws, contact us using the Letter to the Editor form, linked in the app's archive menu and at vennnews.com/letter. For data collected by Google's ads, you can also use Google's tools at https://myadcenter.google.com

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
